Port numbers and general settings
Port numbers and general settings
Article
We have standardized on certain ports and settings. Below is a summary:
Basic SMTP services run across port 25, there are certain times when port 587 may be made available to a client
Pop3 service is on port 110
Imap is on port 143
We do not currently use SSL versions of the above technologies.
All clients can get to a webmail interface by typing in a browser
http://mail.ReplaceThisPartWithYourDomainName.com
. For example:
http://mail.chinookwebs.com
would take us to the correct logon page for chinookwebs mailboxes. So in essence it is composed of "mail" + "." +"domain name" + "domain extension". Here are some more examples:
http://mail.chinookwebs.ca
http://mail.chinookcomputers.net
All of our email systems also come with the ability to do self administration. A direct link to the self administration logon was provided in your welcome letter or you may find it after logging onto the customer centre. If in doubt send us an email and we will send you the link.
